In 1976 a young women named Eleanor Weist purchased the store from Mid with the help of her mother. Eleanor immediately knew what potential the little shop had. She gradually made changes, including adding "Women's Ready-to-Wear" or what we refer to today as "Sportswear." She carried a larger selection of dresses and suits, slacks, lingerie for a period of time, formal gowns and more until she found her niche. Eleanor continued to add jewelry, accessories, shoes for a period of time, and many new lines of clothing. "Clothes Women Want" became Eleanor's tag line and she ran her store with that in mind. The shop eventually became THE place to shop in downtown Bedford. Women from surrounding towns and states also became familiar with the quality of clothing, the level of customer service, and the friendly atmosphere. After 37 years, Eleanor Weist retired at the end of 2012, and the little shop on Pitt Street saw yet another change.
